Our friend and colleague John Sacco introduced a new multi-episode series, Repurposed. The Repurposed series is a collection of videos that showcase American metal processors and recyclers across multiple episodes.

The series demonstrates how recycled materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, are processed and transformed into new steel, aluminum ingots, and copper anodes. While those in the recycled materials industry understand the importance of these items to manufacturing and everyday goods, the general public has become increasingly unaware of the supply chain.

Repurposed aims to take viewers behind the scenes and reveal how the everyday items we rely on are produced in facilities that rely on recycled materials, steel mills, foundries, and paper mills.

In Repurposed Season 1 Episode 1: It Takes Grit, John  John visits Alter Trading Co. in Davenport, IA, to get a glimpse of how metals are processed before being sent off to a steel mill.

John is a seasoned professional in the recycling industry, with over 30 years of experience in the field.
